Jobber Voice Can Now Build Quotes While You're Still on the Job
Jobber's AI can create quotes, jobs and invoices by voice while your hands are still on the work. What it can actually do, which plan each person needs, and the confirmation step that stops it creating the wrong quote fast.

Field service software has always expected the technician to become a data-entry clerk once the work is finished. Notes go into a phone, the office rebuilds the estimate later, and the customer waits until tomorrow.
Jobber Voice is trying to reverse that. You talk while the details are still fresh, and the software creates the operational record for you — a quote, a job, a visit, an invoice, a time entry.
That sounds like an interface change. I think it is a bigger shift than that, because it moves where information enters the system. But there are three things to check before you train a crew on it, and one of them will surprise account owners.
What Jobber has actually released
| Item | Detail |
|---|---|
| Feature name | Jobber AI Voice and Chat |
| Status | Beta, per current documentation |
| First announced | September 2025 |
| Chat | Jobber.com and the mobile app |
| Voice | Mobile app only |
| Admin access | All plans |
| Non-admin voice access | Plus plan |
That last row is the one to read twice. Jobber AI is available to admins on every plan — so if you are the account owner, you will see the capability and reasonably assume your technicians have it. They do not, unless you are on Plus. Non-admins on other plans get chat for product support only.
Verify the exact access for your own account before you build a workflow around it. This is the single most likely way a rollout goes wrong on day one.
Worth noting too: Jobber Voice was announced in September 2025 and the documentation still labels the feature beta. Eleven months of beta is not a criticism — it is a signal that the thing is still moving, and that an access rule you read today is not a guarantee for next quarter.
The quoting workflow, which is the interesting part
This is where voice stops being a novelty.
Per Jobber’s documentation, you can create a new quote, use a quote template, edit line items, add or remove discounts, adjust the tax rate, assign a salesperson, change the customer message or disclaimer, convert the quote into a job, collect the signature, and change the quote status.
Picture an electrician finishing a service-panel inspection with the customer standing there wanting two options. The technician asks Jobber to create a quote from the right template, adds the panel replacement, adds the surge-protection option, adjusts the tax, and has the quote ready before leaving the driveway.
The gap that removes is the expensive one: notes into a phone, office rebuilds the estimate, customer waits a day, enthusiasm cools.
Everything else voice can do
Quoting is not the whole list. Jobber’s documentation describes voice handling:
- Clients and properties — create a client and property, pull up customer history
- Jobs — create one-time or recurring jobs, add or reschedule visits, complete a visit
- On site — add notes, fill out checklists
- Money — convert a job into an invoice, create and send invoices, collect payment
- Admin — create tasks, clock people in or out
This is the part I would pay attention to. It is not voice transcription with a tidy interface on top. The AI is taking actions inside the system of record. The interface becomes a conversation; the output is still a structured quote, job, visit, invoice or time entry.
Jobber’s launch material described voice as covering 100-plus tasks on mobile. That figure is the vendor’s, and the documented list above is what you can actually check.
Four limits worth knowing
- Creating records is voice-only. Jobber’s documentation is explicit: “While you can type or speak to Jobber AI in the app, creating new items (like quotes, jobs, or other records) is only available when using Voice mode.” Text chat will not do it.
- Marketing content is chat-only — the reverse restriction. Jobber’s reasoning: “Because this feature produces written content, it’s only available in chat, not Voice.”
- It is beta. Expect edge cases and changes.
- Conversations may be logged. Jobber states that “Conversations with Jobber AI may be logged for analysis, improvement, and security purposes.” If technicians will speak customer-sensitive details into it, read the privacy terms first — that is an owner’s decision, not a technician’s.
The real risk is not refusal. It is speed.
Here is the operational risk, and it is not the one people expect.
The danger is not that the AI refuses to create a quote. The danger is that it creates the wrong quote very quickly.
A technician says a wrong part number. Forgets an accessory. Picks last season’s template. Tells the AI to send before anyone has checked labour, tags, warranty language and exclusions. Voice does not introduce those mistakes — it accelerates them, and it removes the natural pause where somebody would have noticed.
So the correct setup is human confirmation. Let the technician create a draft by voice, and require a visible review before any of these becomes final:
- a quote or invoice being sent;
- a discount or tax change;
- a customer-facing message;
- a payment action.
That keeps the speed without turning a misheard sentence into a customer dispute.
Does it replace the office?
No. It removes field-to-office re-entry, which is a different thing.
The office still owns price book quality, templates, permissions, exceptions, collections, scheduling conflicts, and the financial controls over what a technician is allowed to send. None of that moves.
What changes is the quality of what arrives. If technicians capture complete information at the source — while standing at the panel rather than recalling it at 6pm — the office spends less time deciphering notes and more time running the operation.
For the wider picture of which AI workflows are genuinely ready in field service, our guide to AI for HVAC businesses covers the seven that are, plus the controls each one needs. This one belongs firmly in the “ready now, with a confirmation step” column.
On pricing
Admins get Jobber AI on all plans; non-admin voice is tied to Plus.
Beyond that, Jobber’s plan pricing moves with team size, billing term and promotion, so use the official pricing page for the current total rather than any figure quoted in an article — including ours. Our HVAC invoicing comparison carries the entry price we last verified, with its check date, if you want a starting point.
The five-job pilot
Do not roll this out to the whole crew. Test it on five control jobs and compare the result against what the office would have entered by hand.
- One quote — ideally a two-option quote, since that is where templates and line items get exercised.
- One recurring job — recurrence is where voice instructions get ambiguous.
- One reschedule — moving a visit touches the calendar and the customer.
- One invoice — including the send step, with a human check before it goes.
- One timer workflow — clock in, clock out, and see whether the entry is clean.
Then count the corrections. If the data is cleaner and the technician saved time, it is doing something real. If the office is fixing AI-created records, the confirmation step is in the wrong place — or the price book and templates underneath it need work first.
Frequently asked questions
What is Jobber Voice?
The voice half of Jobber AI Voice and Chat, a beta feature in the Jobber mobile app. It lets a technician create and edit quotes, manage clients, jobs and visits, send invoices, collect payment, add notes and checklists, and start or stop timers by speaking rather than tapping.
Which Jobber plan do I need for voice?
Admins can use Jobber AI on all plans. For non-admin team members — your technicians — hands-free voice requires the Plus plan. Confirm your own account before training the crew, because the owner seeing the feature does not mean the field team has it.
Can Jobber Voice create a quote from a template?
Yes. Jobber’s documentation lists using a quote template, editing line items, discounts, tax rate, salesperson, customer message and disclaimer, converting to a job, collecting a signature and changing quote status.
Why can’t I create a quote in Jobber’s AI chat?
By design. Jobber states that creating new items is only available in Voice mode. Chat handles support, coaching, data questions and marketing content — the last of which is chat-only for the opposite reason, because it produces written output.
Is Jobber Voice safe for customer data?
Jobber states conversations with its AI may be logged for analysis, improvement and security. That is a normal disclosure, and it is also a decision the account owner should make deliberately before technicians speak customer-sensitive information into the app.
Does Jobber Voice replace a CSR or office admin?
No. It reduces re-entry between field and office. Price book quality, templates, permissions, exceptions, collections and financial controls all stay where they are.
The verdict
Jobber Voice is one of the most practical AI updates in field service software this year, and the reason is unglamorous: it changes how work enters a system, rather than promising to run the business.
It is not autonomy. It is a faster, cleaner path from what the technician saw to what the record says — provided you keep a human between the draft and the send.
Test it on five jobs. Count the corrections. That number tells you more than any feature list, including this one.
